Floods come for every life — and Scripture says the only foundation that holds is the Word of God lived out, not just heard. Part 14 of the Your REAL ID series calls every believer to become an active doer of the Word and recaps 11 powerful identity truths from the second half of this teaching journey.
The Context
James 1:21-25 declares that the one who looks intently at the perfect law of liberty and continues in it — an active doer, not a forgetful hearer — will be blessed in what he does. Pairing that with Luke 6:46-49, where Jesus contrasts the wise builder on the rock with the foolish builder on the ground when the floods rise, this message functions as a reflective recap on the previous six teachings (Parts 8-13) and the 11 Real ID truths they introduced.
The Core Message
Pastor Tim Howe opens with the question Jesus asked in Luke 6 — "Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say?" The wise builder dug deep, laid his foundation on the rock, and when the floods came his house was unshaken; the foolish builder built on the ground without a foundation and the ruin was great. Floods are coming for every life, and the only foundation that holds is the Word of God lived out. Scripture says it is not the one who hears the Word who is transformed and blessed, but the active doer — the one who looks intently at the perfect law of liberty and continues in it. That is why this Your REAL ID series is built the way it is: weekly truths, weekly review, weekly reinforcement. The goal is not information; the goal is for these truths to become part of who you are.
From there, the message walks back through the 11 identity truths drawn from Parts 8-13: I am an heir through God (Galatians 4:7), guiltless in Christ (1 Corinthians 1:8), seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6), known by God (Psalm 139:1), fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), chosen by God (1 Thessalonians 1:4), called by God (Romans 8:30), one spirit with the Lord (1 Corinthians 6:17), the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19), an overcomer of the world by faith (1 John 5:4), and dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus (Romans 6:11). Twenty Real ID truths have now been laid down across the series. Each one is received by faith — hope grabbing hold of the promise, faith seeing it as already done — and the way they actually change a life is when a believer becomes an active doer of what the Word says.
The Application
- Build On The Rock: Anchor your life on the firm foundation of the Word of God so that when the inevitable floodwaters rise, your house is unshaken.
- Be A Doer: Stop settling for being a hearer of the Word who forgets what he looks like the moment he walks away from the mirror — meditate on it, live it, do it.
- Receive By Faith: Embrace every Real ID truth as a present reality, not a future hope — faith sees it as already done because God has already said it.
- Investigate Like Peter: When you hear something about God that sounds too good to be true, run to the Word like Peter ran to the tomb and search out the evidence for yourself.
- Examine Your Heart: Take honest stock of any area that has drifted into the lukewarm zone Jesus warned the Laodiceans about, and surrender it back to His Lordship.
- Revisit The Truths: Go back to specific messages in this series — especially the ones that struck deepest — and meditate on them until those truths become part of who you actually are.
